Summer Reading Assignment
Meet Your Teacher

What are you working on?

Is it an aspect of yourself? An outside project? Are you reading or watching something? There are many different ways to answer this question, and that is why it's become an interview question of choice for colleges and potential employers.

Prior to Sunday, September 19th, create a Google Doc and write a three-paragraph (8-10 sentences per paragraph) response to the question above. Include an introduction with a hook, some background information, and a statement explaining your area of focus. In the body, provide more detail about "the project", and then end with a concluding paragraph where you summarize what you've accomplished and the direction that you hope to move in.  You will upload your Google Doc in the first week of school.

In addition, using your Dwight Google credentials, log in and search for "Google Alerts".  Set an alert for your topic in order to receive daily emails containing relevant news articles. Bookmark 4 articles that you find interesting. For each article, provide a link, a 4-5 sentence summary of the content, and explain why it's relevant to your topic. Here's an example.

I also hope you'll read for pleasure this summer. If you're looking for suggestions on great books, feel free to reach out to me!

Hi! My name is Ms. Moye

You can email me at: kmoye@dwight.global

I have just completed my first year teaching at Dwight, and I am more excited than ever about working with you in my second year! I spent over 20 years teaching English in public schools in North Carolina, and I exchanged the brick-and-mortar setting for a virtual one and moved to a beach community in 2020: both happy moves for me. I am looking forward to our class discussions where we will explore ideas generated from classic texts together. Please feel free to reach out to me via email any time with questions or concerns--I have a lot of available time to meet with you as well if you need extra support.
